Tycho Brahe
Tycho Brahe, also Tycho de Brahe (Tyge Ottesen Brahe, * 14 December 1546 at Knutstorp Castle, Skåne; † 24 October 1601 in Prague) was a Danish astronomer and mathematician.
Previous incarnations
According to Rudolf Steiner, Tycho de Brahe had previously incarnated as Herzeloyde, the mother of Parzival, and before that as the Roman Emperor Julian Apostata (331-363).
„But this soul, because it belonged to those who had still inherited something of the old mysteries, who had still lived within the substance of the old mysteries at a time when these mysteries were in a certain sense still luminous, had absorbed much of the spirituality of the cosmos. This had been pushed back, as it were, during the Herzeloyde incarnation, but it pushed up in the soul, and so we find this individuality again in the sixteenth century. And in the sixteenth century we recognise in this individuality how that which it had gone through as Julian Apostata rises up in a Christianised way. This individuality appears as Tycho de Brahe in the sixteenth century and stands opposite that which emerges in Western civilisation as the Copernican world-view.“ (Lit.:GA 238, p. 88f)
Present-day impact
According to Rudolf Steiner, Tycho de Brahe's spiritual individuality later inspired Schelling and Jakob Frohschammer and gave prophetic impulses for the 20th century.
„And you see, if one now wants to have a significant helper for what one is to research for the future of the twentieth century, someone, so to speak, who can advise one with regard to the supersensible world, if one needs impulses that are in there, then it is the individuality of Julian Apostata-Tycho de Brahe. It is not on the physical plan today, but it is actually always there and always gives information about those things which relate namely to the prophetic in relation to the twentieth century.238“ (Lit.:GA 103)
