Rudolf Steiner's Collected Works

Rudolf Steiner's Collected Works (CW) are based on the German Rudolf Steiner Gesamtausgabe (GA), which has been published step by step by Rudolf Steiner Verlag since the early 1960s. It comprises Rudolf Steiner's writings, the entire lecture work, which according to current knowledge consists of 5611 lectures, as far as documents are available, and Steiner's artistic work in the form of high-quality reproductions, including the more than 1000 surviving blackboard drawings. In addition, a comprehensive documentation of Steiner's work is being compiled. So far, more than 350 volumes of the complete edition have already been published in German. Around a third of the volumes of the writings and lectures are also available as paperback editions (Tb).

On Reading Spiritual Scientific Books

„One of the most essential conditions of a book that has grown out of spiritual science is that one not only absorbs the content of such a book, that is the very least. It is necessary that, when one has absorbed this book, one has in a certain way changed the way in which one thinks and feels and senses; that one has advanced in relation to the standards and modes of judgement which one otherwise applies in the ordinary world. This is the difficulty that still stands in the way of understanding spiritual-scientific works today, that people read them like other writings and believe that they can absorb the content as with other writings; whereas it is in fact the case that something must have been transformed in one when one has really understood an occult book, a genuine occult book.“ (Lit.:GA 156, p. 16)
