Sefer Yetzirah

From AnthroWiki
Yetzirah - the World of Formation represented by the 22 letters of the Hebrew alphabet as described in the Sefer Yetzirah. In the innermost segment, the 3 mothers, followed by the 7 doubles and the 12 singles.

The Sefer Yetzirah (Hebrewספר יצירה "Book of Formation"; also translated as "Book of Creation") is considered the oldest independently transmitted work of the Kabbalah. In Jewish secret teachings, Yetzirah largely corresponds to the astral world, whose lowest three regions, however, overlap with the 3 uppermost regions of the etheric world (→ 7 regions of the astral world). The book presents the essential elements of creation in their origin (cosmogony) and their structure (cosmology). These elements are the 10 primordial digits (sefirot) and the 22 letters of the Hebrew alphabet.
