Five public lectures and one disputation evening, held in various cities in Switzerland and Germany between 17 June 1920 and 11 May 1922.

The lectures to academics in Switzerland and Germany collected in this volume show the high degree of objectivity and empathy with which Steiner was able to counter scepticism on the part of the scientific community. Step by step he conveyed to his listeners the basic features of the anthroposophical path of knowledge. He was less concerned with presenting the results of spiritual scientific research than with introducing the academic listener to a factual understanding of spiritual science in a propaedeutic, conceptually transparent form.
