Observation of Nature, Experiment, Mathematics and the Levels of Knowledge of Spiritual Research
Naturbeobachtung, Experiment, Mathematik und die Erkenntnisstufen der Geistesforschung
Eight lectures and a discussion paper given at the "Free Anthroposophical University Course", Stuttgart 16-23 March 1921.
In these lectures Rudolf Steiner examines in detail the realities of scientific methods - observation of nature, experiment and especially the mathematical treatment of natural facts - and develops imaginative cognition by analogy and in continuation of mathematical knowledge, as it were as successive stages of cognition. This imaginative cognition is followed in a consistent continuation by an exposition of inspired and intuitive cognition. Further methodological explanations of the fundamental questions of a science of history and an outlook on the social work of anthroposophy round off the lectures.
