[[Adversaries]] are spiritual beings who originally came from the regular [[Hierarchy of angels|hierarchies]], but who have partly lagged behind in their own development, but have also partly hurried ahead and now oppose the regular creative growing of the world in an inhibiting way and are therefore rightly called [[evil]] - but they are not evil in the absolute sense. They have not risen up against [[God]] of their own [[free will]], but have, as it were, been "commanded" to their special task, as [[Rudolf Steiner]] often expresses it.
