Italiano: Figura leontocefala avvolta da un serpente, propria dei misteri mitraici, con quattro ali che recano i simboli delle quattro stagioni e un fulmine inciso sul petto. Alla base ci sono il martello e le tenaglie di Vulcano, nonchè il gallo e il caduceo di Mercurio. Il disegno è della figura rinvenuta nel mitreo di C. Valerius Heracles e figli a Ostia Antica in Italia (dedicato nel 190 d.C.). Numero di catalogo Vermaseren: CIMRM 312.[1] L'identità del leontocefalo non è certa, ma è quasi certamente neoplatonico e si ritiene che possa avere correlazioni con Chronos, Arimanius, Zurvān o Yaldabaoth. English: Leontocephaline wrapped by a serpent of the Mithraic mysteries, with four wings carrying the symbols of the four seasons, and a thunderbolt engraved on his chest. At the base there are the hammer and tongs of Vulcan and Mercury's cock and . This line drawing is of the figure found at the mithraeum of C. Valerius Heracles and sons (dedicated 190 AD) at Ostia Antica, Italy. Vermaseren catalogue number: CIMRM 312.[1] The identity of the leontocephaline is not certain, but it is almost certainly neoplatonic, and is commonly assumed to be in some way related to Aion/Chronos, Arimanius, Zurvān or Yaldabaoth. |
