Catharsis

(Redirected from Katharsis)

Through catharsis (Greekκάθαρσις "purification, cleansing, clarification"), the desires merely directed towards earthly existence are eliminated from the human astral body and handed over to the general astral world.

In the life after death, this purification must take place when the human soul passes through the Kamaloka, otherwise it cannot ascend into higher spiritual realms of existence. In earthly life, the catharsis voluntarily sought is a necessary prerequisite for all spiritual training.

The astral body purified through purification is called "Virgin Sophia" in Christian esotericism, synonymous, however in a Christian renewed form, with the "Isis" of the Egyptian mysteries.
